Revealed to the general public at the age of 16 in 1997, Admiral T has established himself as the number one artist from the French Caribbean. Trained, like so many others, in the school of the sound systems, Admiral T discovered reggae at the age of 12 thanks to an older brother who was a selecta. Born in 1981, he grew up listening to Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, but also Glen Washington and Papa San, not forgetting Kassav' zouk, African music and salsa.
From hanging around the local parties, he got to know Teddy and Jimmy of the Karukera Sound System, which he quickly joined. Founded in 1994, the KSS brings together several deejays and singers. They teamed up with the Martinican producer Don Miguel, because the Guadeloupean producers had lost interest and preferred to turn towards zouk.
Together they produced two KSS albums on which Admiral T stood out with the tracks Rapide and Special Guest, a combination with Curtis, in 1997. He was only 16 at the time. Other tracks would add to his reputation, notably a combination with Saël, Pas comme les autres, and Rendez-vous in 2000, both immediate successes. But Admiral T's biggest hit would be the track Gwadada, slices of daily life on the island. A three-track maxi followed, with a remix of gwadada in collaboration with the group Akiyo and Le Bien et le mal, with Tiwony and Curtis.
In 2001 his first album "Mozaïc Kréyol", made up entirely of original tracks, established itself as the dancehall album of the moment. Tasting many musical flavours, "Mozaïc Kréyol" is a musical patchwork (hence its title) in which dancehall, zouk and traditional music live side by side.
One single recommendation: discover the artist on stage, where he invariably delivers highly energetic performances.
