But who on earth is Prince Fatty? Behind the name hides Mike Pelanconi, whose identity will mean nothing to reggae fans, since he is the man who notably worked on Lilly Allen's album. A distance from the genre that allows him a frontal tribute to the sound of the 1970s. Prince Fatty resurrects its glory days with this "Survival of the Fattest", with jazzy guitars, built around an obese bass and warmly brassed up by fine flights of trombone.
A veritable showcase for guests whose selection speaks volumes: Little Roy and Dennis Alcapone on the deejay side (the penetrating Curious and Fat Panther), Winston Francis for the vocals in 60s style, Hollie Cook (daughter of Paul Cook, the Sex Pistols' drummer) and her jazzy singing on Milk & Honey, and also Style Scott, the Roots Radics drummer. Cleverly produced and finely mixed, "Survival of the Fattest" is deliciously retro and therefore irresistible. The favourite of the new season.
