Zebra is out of prison
on Monday, September 08th 2008 - 9 767 views
It is the end of a long spell behind bars for Zebra, the dancehall deejay jailed in 2001 for rape, assault and battery, and sexual harassment. Sentenced to 10 years in prison, Garfield Vassell, known for his early-90s hits Picture Frame, Right Type of Love and Redder Than Red, was released on parole last week.
A few days ago the Jamaica Star opened its columns to veteran deejay Tiger, who took a dim view of Zebra’s early release: "I don't see why they're letting him out like that, if he did what he did, it's not right," said Tiger, who was often pitted against Zebra, adding that the latter should not resume his musical career. That is not a good start: a concert has already been announced in St Catherine, where Dennis Walks’ son was born.
