Following the theft of music archives from the premises of the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation (JBC) (news of 07/01/2008), the Minister of Information and Culture, Olivia Grange, has announced the formation of a committee.
The committee, chaired by Owen James, a journalist and television producer, brings together figures from radio and television, as well as the president of the Jamaican Federation of Musicians, the president of the Recording Industry Association, and representatives of the Ministry of Information, Culture, Youth and Sports. All these people, tasked with assessing the conditions in which the archives are stored, will be responsible for making sure everything is done to prevent history from repeating itself.
