Cocoa Tea, Obama's first supporter
on Monday, July 07th 2008 - 7 777 views
He was among the first artists to record a track dedicated to Barack Obama, candidate for the Democratic nomination in the American presidential election. Now that Obama has prevailed over Hilary Clinton, Cocoa Tea is stepping it up a gear and announcing an album this summer.
Its title, "Yes We Can", leaves no doubt about his declared support for the Illinois senator: it is none other than Obama's campaign slogan. It will naturally include his song of allegiance (Barrack Obama), but also a dozen other tracks produced by Cocoa Tea on his Roaring Lion/Dancehall Jam Jam label.
Still in the Lovers Rock vein that made his name, featurings are announced with Marcia Griffiths, President Brown, Cutty Ranks, and above all Shabba Ranks, with whom he cut two tracks in the 90s, Pirates and Who She Love.
