Mbegane Ndour is far from unknown: a former member of the Senegalese rap group Djoloff, he is also the instigator of the African Consciences project, released in 2003, which brought together artists from across the African diaspora (Dead Prez, Anthony B, Sizzla, Daddy Mory, La Rumeur, Tiken Jah Fakoly...).
His new album, "Saloum" (a reference to the African monarchy founded by his ancestor), is true to form and builds a bridge between the various black musics (afro, hip hop, dancehall) with a strong cultural anchoring. Recorded between Paris, Dakar, New York and Kingston, it once again brings together many artists from different backgrounds.
The first single, Jaam, is a combination with Hakim Abdulsamad, a member of The Boys in the 90s and a producer in his spare time. M-1 of Dead Prez, Metzo Djatah, and the Jamaicans Genie Slick and Millinium also appear.
