Veronica Campbell-Brown, who had failed to qualify for the 100m, ended up not disappointing her public after all, as the Jamaican runner has just won the 200m final with ease, in 21.74s.

She thus gives Jamaica its fifth gold medal, which, thanks to her, moves just ahead of France in the overall standings.
Of note: Kerron Stewart, already a silver medallist in the 100m, for her part completed a double by snatching the bronze medal from American Muna Lee by a mere hundredth.
