Buju Banton: new album in the shops
on Monday, October 04th 2010 - 6 368 views
Already available since last week in the United States and Europe, Buju Banton's new album hits French shops today. His ninth album, titled "Before the Dawn", was recorded in his own Gargamel Music studio before his incarceration in December 2009, and it features a track that is fuelling every discussion, prophetic or not: Innocent.
"All the songs on this album were written before I found myself in this situation. And yet they all speak deeply about what I am going through right now," Buju said in an exclusive interview with Hip-Hop Weekly magazine. He concluded: "You can lock up the flesh, but you can never lock up the spirit of Rasta".
Where "Too Bad" was strictly dancehall and "Rasta Got Soul" was devoted to crossover reggae, the ten tracks of "Before The Dawn" make up a rather eclectic whole. Be that as it may, it is already ranked second in the iTunes Top Reggae Album Charts.
