A new tragedy reminds us that violence is omnipresent in Jamaica. The young deejay Copper Cat was reportedly shot dead by attackers who were trying to steal his mobile phone. The incident is said to have taken place outside Richie Stephens' house in Kingston, in the Waterhouse district.

Spotted by Richie Stephens in 1998, Copper Cat (real name Demar Graham) began his career with him. Regarded as a member of the family, Stephens wrote him many songs, took him along to his concerts, and produced him on his Pot of Gold label. After finishing his studies, Copper Cat threw himself fully into his career as an artist.
He recently voiced Friend Murderer and life goes on for Notice Productions, and also Leave my baby alone with Khago, the revelation of 2010.
