Blackboard Jungle: two showcases with Reality Souljahs and Roberto Sanchez
on Tuesday, March 11th 2014 - 8 649 views
It's not one but two vinyl releases from French label and sound system Blackboard Jungle. Two showcases, the fruits of meetings between the Rockers Disciples band and Reality Souljahs (volume 1) and Spanish producer / singer Roberto Sanchez (volume 2).
The first volume welcomes Reality Souljahs, Pablo and Indio. This duo (there were four of them when they formed in 2005), well used to sound systems, featured on the "Musical Raid" compilation released by Blackboard Jungle in 2011 (and already backed by Rockers Disciples).
This time, Blackboard gives them 6 tracks, followed by 4 dubs, and Rockers Disciples provide a rockers rhythm bed to superb effect. A warm, deep sound, remarkably well mixed, and an irresistible groove, as you can hear with the teasers below:
He is a musician, engineer, producer… and singer! A true jack of all trades, Roberto Sanchez (read our interview) shows the extent of his talents by stepping up to the microphone. As with Reality Souljahs, the session took place in the Rockers Disciples' Uptown Studio, during a visit by Roberto Sanchez to France in 2012 (he was then performing with Blackboard Jungle).
And here again, the result is unmistakable, with fiery rockers rhythms, perfectly mixed and arranged, and swelled by the horn section of Roberto Sanchez's Lone Ark studio.
Two killer showcases, available since 10 March on the Blackboard Jungle website and on the Rockers Disciples site.
In brief...
