Riddim · Don Corleon · 2011
The Message riddim
At a time when Jamaica has succumbed to dancehall and reggae is growing ever more discreet on the island, Don Corleon almost cuts a figure of resistance, still producing new-roots riddims.
His latest, the Message Riddim, welcomes a variety of singers, from established artists to up-and-comers (Da Professor, Ikaya, Protoje, Million Stylez...)
A fairly classic riddim overall, but carried by very good tracks from Kymani Marley and Pressure. Even Vybz Kartel, who sounds a little out of place on the tracklist, delivers a conscious lyric, Poor people land.
